Dear Fellow Traveler,
We are the proud owners of The Cain Condominium, Unit #18 located within the grounds of the Sanctuary Resort and Spa in Playa Azul, Costa Rica.  Our names are Richelle and Vincent Cain.  We live in Calabasas, California (a suburb of Los Angeles), and are both native Californians!
We are "sun worshipers" and beach lovers.  We travel yearly, (mainly) to the islands of the Carribbean, so Vince was challenged to find a "new"  oceanfront/beach vacation rental for Richelle's 50th birthday!  It was then, in 2005, that Vince discovered the Sanctuary condominiums.  During this first visit to the Sanctuary Resort we stayed in the hotel "cottages"; the first building of the condominiums had been built and the second building of condominiums was underway. This private oceanfront property is set amongst 80 acres of exotic gardens and protected forests and stretches over a mile of private, secluded beachfront in the Guanacaste Region of Northwest Costa Rica. The resort is just steps to the pristine, private cobalt blue sand beach (Playa Azul).
We (ultimately) want to retire on a Caribbean island, but know that we need somewhere to go during hurricane season! We felt we had found the solution in this oceanfront paradise.  After a week of sunbathing, reading, relaxing, massaging and zip-lining, we put down a deposit on our (yet to be built) resort condo #18 prior to our (much-too-soon) departure. Imagine that!
Since we purchased our condo "vacation rental" during its pre-construction stage, we were able to customize our condo to reflect our own sense of style, personality and "creature comforts".  Vince is a general contractor and a master, custom cabinet builder.  He soon "went to work" re-designing the kitchen layout of the condominium, discussing solid cedar arched doors/doorways with the owner/builder and building custom cabinets for the entire condo.  Richelle was busy ordering and re-ordering upgraded furniture, choosing paint colors, tile and granite, and shopping for/purchasing fabric for bedspreads, draperies (instead of blinds), and tropical cabinet and door knobs.  (Richelle has been an educator/administrator for the Los Angeles Unified School District since 1979.)
Vince still had to figure out how to build crates to ship the custom cabinets, so that they would eventually get through customs in Costa Rica. THEN we had to coordinate a "working vacation" with the stages of the condo completion so that Vince could install the custom cabinets.  In February of 2006, we made the journey... with boxes (that Vince built according to TSA standards) of tools and luggage packed for our "working vacation".  Vince worked...Richelle vacationed at this oceanfront resort!
And...as they say, the rest is history....We travel to Costa Rica as often as we can, but we are still both working...and we have 2 grown daughters, 2 grown sons and 3 grandchildren!  We love the tranquility offered in our private condo within this lush and preserved oceanfront location...there is a perfect balance of luxury and nature.
Each time we visit our "vacation rental"....we try to add to the custom decor, while making it feel more like home.
We would love to share our little piece of oceanfront paradise with you and yours!
Enjoy our private condo as YOUR vacation rental!
